“Wild-fest” is a teaching book with accompanying C.D.

The material can be used in diferent ways: as a musical source book, as an instructonal book for solo instruments and as a resource book for instrumental groups.
By using musical examples from diferent lands and cultures, the book will hopefully awaken interest and partcipaton in “world music”.
A lot of “folk music” teaching books present the student with a lot of tunes but with litle or no informaton on how they should be interpreted, 'aried, impro'ised on etc. Wild-fest will concentrate on a relat'ely small amount of musical examples, instead focusing on building up the musical resources of the student through in-depth engagement with diferent kinds of music.
“Carni'al-music” is generally loud and chaotc outdoor music, with a lot less con'entons than other popular music forms (Jazz, Blues, Rock). Because of this the student is able to experiment more with melodic impro'isaton, fnding harmonies and arranging material without constantly wondering if what they are doing is right or wrong.
Each chapter describes a diferent fest'al and within it, the stories, costumes, actons and dances in'ol'ed, thereby placing the accompanying music within a broader cultural perspect'e. The book will then act'ely encourage students to build on this cultural material and create staged musical “happenings” of their own.
